At Town Close, we know that great financial planning isn’t just about numbers—it’s about people. Over the years, many of our clients have told us they’d love to know more about the team behind the scenes, so we’re introducing a new series where we shine a spotlight on the people who keep everything running smoothly.
Meet Zoe Sheady. Celebrating her upcoming three-year anniversary, Zoe reveals the fulfilling nature of her role as a Financial Planner, what she does to make clients' dreams a reality as well as her dream super power, here's a glimpse into the Town Close team.
1. When did you join the Town Close Team and can you describe what you do?
I’m nearly at my 3-year anniversary with Town Close, which has flown by!
My formal title is a Financial Planner, but my job is a lot more exciting than the name leads you to believe. I help clients tick off their bucket lists, whether that’s stopping work earlier than expected, helping children onto the property ladder or visiting their dream holiday destination. I am lucky enough to make our clients dreams a reality, and it feels amazing!
As much as I love that side of it, I also feel honoured that our clients trust us in their darker days too. Whether that’s losing loved ones, health problems, or any other hard moments – being able to make even the most difficult days that little bit easier is a huge privilege.
2. What’s a typical day like for you?
Whilst I don’t really have a ‘typical day’, most of my time is filled with phone calls/ Zoom meetings or messages - my favourite things, as I’m able to engage with our clients.
When I’m not doing the above, I’ll be working behind the scenes to ensure they’re getting the best outcome possible. I’ll always add in regular self-development as it’s important to me that I continue to grow in my role and keep up with all the changes!
3. What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Without doubt - helping our clients! Through the good and bad times.
4. What do you appreciate most about working with your current team?
How supportive and aligned we all are as a team - Not one person is out for themselves.
We all work together towards our common goal. We share the same values when it comes to Town Close and what we’re trying to achieve and it’s brilliant to be a part of it!
5. What are your top three films of all time?
Oo a tough one… I’ll probably fill this in and then change my mind once it’s sent!
- Rocket Man – My go to film for a Friday night.
- Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone – The OG Harry Potter film, however I do love them all!
- The Greatest Showman – We have so many happy memories dancing around the kitchen with this playlist on full blast with our children… My daughter is much too cool for this now, but they were the best times.
6. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
To travel back in time – It would be great to be able to spend just a bit more time in moments with loved ones and be with those that are no longer here. Luckily, I have lots of lovely memories so they will have to do!
7. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Be yourself!
8. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sweet and sour chicken from our local Chinese Takeaway -
9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to take the children to America to do the whole Florida experience. I went when I was younger, and it seemed so magical… although I think they’re past the Toy Story and Disney Princess stages…. I’d still want all the autographs though!
10. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?
My partner and our two children? But if we’re talking actual items –
- My lashes extensions – Even on a desert island, I couldn’t be without my eyelashes!
- My blanket – as I’m always freezing and I’m not chancing it being cold through the night!
- I suppose a more practical one should be matches/a lighter? I’m no Bear Grylls when it comes to surviving… I’d be a bit stuck if I needed to light a fire with a couple of rocks!
