Trustworthiness: It’s Really Not That Hard

Written by

In financial services, trust is everything. Clients entrust us with their livelihoods, their retirements and their futures. So naturally, there’s a lot of emphasis on appearing trustworthy - qualifications, awards, slick branding. But as I recently reflected on a piece by Gapingvoid, it struck me just how simple trust really is.

The Simplicity of Trust

The article, "It’s Not That Hard", distils the essence of trust down to something beautifully human: our actions. Not the ones that make headlines, but the everyday ones that go unseen and uncelebrated. It reminds us to:

  • Be Honest: Speak plainly. Admit mistakes. Tell the truth even when it’s uncomfortable. Clients can handle the truth - they appreciate it.
  • Be Reliable: Show up. Deliver what you said you would, when you said you would. If something changes, explain why. Reliability builds confidence.
  • Be Empathetic: Everyone’s situation is different. When we take the time to listen and understand, we create real connection.

These aren't corporate slogans. They're ways of being.

Why This Matters at Town Close

At Town Close, our ethos - Money, Made Human - isn’t a tagline. It’s how we operate. We believe financial advice is as much about empathy and trust as it is about expertise. Credentials matter, but actions matter more.

We aim to be the kind of people you’d feel confident sending your parents to. People who do what they say, care about the details and never forget that behind every portfolio is a person.

Because trust isn’t earned through performance alone. It’s built, day by day, by being honest, dependable and human.
